At the end of September, a group of Lochois visited St Andrews: The Mayor, Marc Angenault and several members of the Conseil municipal, together with a group of members of La Nouvelle Alliance, our sister organisation in Loches. Their visit began with a reception in the Town Hall hosted by the Community Council. This was a working visit for the Conseil municipal and meetings were held with St Leonards School, Madras College, The Preservation Trust and the Tourist Information Office. Marc Angenault also met with Callum McLeod, Chairman of the Community Council. The various meetings were very constructive, and it is hoped that they will lead to useful cooperation over the next few months and beyond. The visit ended with a dinner at which John Matthews formally handed over the Chairmanship of the St Andrews-Loches Alliance to Joyce Duncan. On behalf of the many members present Joyce made a presentation to John and thanked him for his tremendous contribution to the success of the Alliance over the many years of his involvement. As guests gathered before the dinner, they were treated to traditional pipe music from the City of St Andrews Pipe Band and after the meal young dancers from the Jenny King School of Dance gave a superb demonstration of Scottish dancing before leading the guests both Scottish and French in some ceilidh dancing. They were kindly supported by the Committee and members of the RSCDS
